Brunnberg

The Brunnberg vineyard faces predominantly northwest and north, with some of the vineyards terraced and others located on a plateau. They extend at elevations between approximately 230 and 270 meters above sea level. The subsoil consists of silty sands of the Traisen Formation ('Oncophora layers'), which are covered by gravel and conglomerate layers, and largely by calcareous-flourous loess and cohesive loess loam. The main grape variety is Grüner Veltliner, but Zweigelt and Muscat are also planted. The wines are characterized by the cooler microclimate and the heavier soils. The name Brunnberg can be found on maps dating back to the 19th century (administrative map 1:28,800, 1864-1881).
